Here's the second album from Sic & Mad, following hot on the heels of their out-of-print first offering, "Blues - The Destruction of Utopia Pt. 2."
Formed by middle school art teacher "Happy" and later-to-be Slackers' frontman Vic Ruggiero in 1986, Sic & Mad offers a unique and volatile molotov cocktail of art-punk, NY hardcore, hip-hop (a la Beastie Boys), reggae, avant-garde psychedelia and ska.
The intense rhythm section of Ara Babajian(Leftover Crack, the Slackers), Marcus Geard (the Slackers) and Ruggiero provide the perfect and varied underpinning for Happy's honest and intimate vocal style. His political, socially-conscious lyrics are delivered with a wry sense of humor and driven by the trio's tough drumming, versatile, expressive bass and eclectic guitar stylings.
Yet another true Version City recording with abundant guest appearances from King Django(vocals, melodica), Slackers saxman Dave Hillyard, Japanese dancehall legend Papa B (vocals) and many others.
